Mumbai: Demonstrating its collective economic influence, the Jain community has purchased 186 luxury cars worth crores after securing an impressive ₹21 crore in discounts through a bulk-buying initiative.

The “one-of-its-kind deal” was organised by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO), a not-for-profit community body with over 65,000 members across India. Speaking to PTI, JITO Vice President Himanshu Shah said the organisation acted only as a facilitator and did not profit from the transaction.

“These 186 luxury cars, each priced between ₹60 lakh and ₹1.3 crore, were handed over to their owners across India between January and June this year,” Shah said. “Our collective purchasing drive helped members save ₹21 crore through exclusive discounts.”

Most of the cars were reportedly purchased by Jains from Gujarat. The initiative was led by JITO member Nitin Jain, who said the idea stemmed from the community’s belief in leveraging its strong buying power to secure better deals.

“Since buying power is one of our key strengths, we directly approached brands like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes to negotiate bulk discounts,” Jain explained. “The manufacturers saw it as a win-win situation since it also reduced their marketing expenses.”

The initiative gained momentum as word spread within the community. “On average, each buyer saved between ₹8 lakh and ₹17 lakh—enough to buy another car for a family member,” Jain said humorously.

Encouraged by the success of this luxury car initiative, JITO has now launched a new campaign titled ‘Utsav’, which aims to strike similar deals with leading brands in jewellery, consumer durables, and electronics.
