Rohtak: In a deeply disturbing incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lather of the Haryana Police Cyber Cell was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a room near agricultural fields in Ladhot village, Rohtak.
The case has taken a significant turn as it appears to be linked with the ongoing controversy surrounding IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar. According to initial reports, Lather allegedly left behind a suicide note in which he accused senior police officials, including IPS Kumar, of mental harassment and workplace discrimination.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police, Surendra Singh Bhoria, confirmed the recovery of the suicide note from the scene but refrained from revealing its complete contents, citing the sensitivity of the matter. He described ASI Lather as a sincere and dedicated officer who had been serving in the Cyber Cell at the time of his death.
Police officials have initiated an in-depth investigation into the incident, focusing on verifying the allegations made in the note and determining the circumstances leading to Lather’s death. Meanwhile, the tragic development has triggered shock and unease within the Haryana Police Department, with calls for a transparent and impartial probe growing stronger.
