Guwahati: Zubeen Garg’s close associate, Arun, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam CID on Sunday in connection with the singer-composer’s mysterious death in Singapore last month. Officials confirmed his visit but refrained from sharing details of the questioning.

Arun, who was deeply attached to the late singer and had even taken on the name ‘Arun Garg,’ was among the four who lit Zubeen’s funeral pyre. Speaking to reporters, he urged the authorities to expedite the probe. “We want justice for Dada. There has been so much delay,” he said.

He also distanced himself from alleged financial irregularities linked to some of Garg’s associates, stating, “I don’t know about all those things. I mainly work with Bou (Garg’s wife, Garima). The only thing I know is that we need justice. Why is it taking so much time?”

Criticizing those who failed to respond to CID summons, Arun added, “Those who are in Singapore should be brought here, they should be dragged here. I don’t understand why they are not coming.”

The Assam CID is investigating Garg’s death, which occurred while he was swimming in Singapore on September 19. The 10-member SIT, headed by Special DG Munna Prasad Gupta, continues to record statements of friends, family, and people connected to Garg’s professional life.

So far, seven individuals have been arrested, including North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg’s cousin Sandipan Garg, his manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and his two personal security officers, Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya.
