Ambala: Popular Haryanvi dancer and entertainer Sapna Choudhary is grieving the untimely loss of her mother, Neelam Choudhary, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. She was reportedly battling liver complications brought on by jaundice.
According to family sources, Neelam’s condition had been critical in recent days, and doctors were preparing for a possible liver transplant. However, her health deteriorated rapidly, and she passed away around 11 p.m. on October 1. Her final rites were conducted on Wednesday at the Najafgarh crematorium, where Sapna, her husband Veer Sahu, and other close relatives were present.
The loss has left Sapna shattered. Known for her vibrant presence both on stage and on social media, the artist changed her Instagram profile picture to a solid black image — a silent tribute to her late mother. Sapna was known to share a deep emotional bond with Neelam and had often spoken publicly about the strength she drew from her.
On Mother’s Day earlier this year, Sapna had posted a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to both her biological mother and her mother-in-law. “My life belongs to both of you,” she had written, sharing affectionate photographs and thanking them for the guidance and love that shaped her life.
Neelam Choudhary had been suffering from liver-related ailments for some time. While there was hope of a transplant in the future, her condition worsened due to infection, making the procedure unviable.
Fans, colleagues, and members of the regional entertainment industry have taken to social media to offer condolences and support to the grieving family. Sapna, a beloved figure in North India’s music and dance scene, has yet to issue a public statement but is expected to remain out of the public eye for some time as she copes with this personal tragedy.
