Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has been strengthened with the appointment of 10 new additional judges. Acting on the orders of the President, the newly appointed judges were administered the oath of office today by the Chief Justice of the High Court in a formal swearing-in ceremony.

Following the ceremony, all 10 judges assumed charge of their posts, a development that is expected to improve the pace of justice delivery and ease the burden of pending cases in the court.

Newly Appointed Judges:

Varinder Aggarwal, Mandeep Pannu, Pramod Goyal, Shalini Singh Nagpal, Amarinder Singh Grewal, Subhash Mehla, Surya Pratap Singh, Rupinderjit Chahal, Aradhana Sahni, and Yashveer Singh Rathore.

The sanctioned strength of the Punjab and Haryana High Court is 85 judges. Until now, only 49 judges were in position. With these new appointments, the number has risen to 59, though 26 posts remain vacant.

Lawyers and the public had long been demanding an increase in the number of judges to speed up hearings and reduce the backlog of cases. With the latest appointments, it is expected that the judicial process will gain momentum, ensuring quicker delivery of justice to the people.
