Faridabad: In a high-stakes crackdown on organized crime, the Faridabad Crime Branch (Sector 30) arrested four wanted criminals in two separate armed encounters in the early hours of Saturday. The operations, carried out near Badkhal-Pali Road and Surajkund Road, led to two suspects being shot in the leg, while a sub-inspector was hit by a bullet, narrowly escaping injury thanks to his bulletproof vest.

Authorities have identified the injured suspects as Kamal Bhadana and Shashikant alias Chhidda—both alleged to be members of a notorious local gang. Their associates, Golu and Rohit, were also apprehended during the coordinated efforts.

First Encounter: Badkhal-Pali Road

According to police sources, the first shootout took place around 4:00 AM near Sainik Colony, when the Crime Branch received intelligence that Kamal Bhadana and his accomplice Golu would be traveling through the area.

The suspects were intercepted roughly 100 meters from the local police post, but upon seeing the police team, they opened fire. Officers responded swiftly, injuring Kamal Bhadana in the leg before successfully arresting both men.

Police say Kamal had been on the run since April 27, when he allegedly fired shots outside a textile trader’s residence in Faridabad, demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore. A case had been registered at the Saran Police Station following that incident.

“We recovered a total of six firearms, including three country-made pistols, two semi-automatic pistols, one additional pistol with a magazine, and four live rounds,” said Anil Kumar, head of Crime Branch Sector 30.

Second Operation: Surajkund Road

In a nearly simultaneous operation, another Crime Branch team encountered Shashikant alias Chhidda and Rohit on Surajkund Road, following a tip-off about a potential armed crime in the making.

When officers attempted to intercept the pair, they too opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from police. Shashikant sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was immediately taken to BK Hospital, and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for advanced care.

Police seized two pistols from the suspects during this operation.

Officer Survives Gunshot

During the crossfire near Badkhal-Pali Road, Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar of the Crime Branch was struck by a bullet, which was stopped by his bulletproof jacket, preventing serious injury.

“The bullet could have been fatal, but the protective gear did its job. He is safe and recovering,” an officer confirmed.

Police: All Suspects Belong to Same Gang

Investigators believe all four suspects are part of the same criminal syndicate that has been involved in multiple violent crimes, including extortion, armed robbery, and attempted murder.

“Both operations were successful. Two suspects are injured and under custody in Delhi hospitals. All four individuals are linked to the same gang, and further interrogation is ongoing,” added Crime Branch in-charge Anil Kumar.

Police say more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses, and forensic teams are examining the recovered weapons for ballistic analysis.
