Chandigarh: The Punjab Public Service Commission’s (PPSC) declaration of the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) Mains examination results has triggered a controversy, with candidates alleging irregularities and questioning the transparency of the shortlisting process.
The results were declared late on Wednesday, November 4. Several candidates subsequently raised concerns over the selection pattern, claiming that the distribution of shortlisted applicants across examination centres warranted scrutiny.
According to the candidates, 10 to 11 shortlisted applicants had appeared from the same examination room. They also claimed that 24.21 per cent of candidates from one examination centre made it to the shortlist.
Candidates Question Evaluation And Shortlisting Criteria
The candidates alleged that rules and transparency norms were overlooked during the evaluation of answer sheets. They have also questioned the number of candidates shortlisted for the interview stage.
According to their claims, the commission did not shortlist candidates at three times the number of vacancies, as they believe was required under the advertised selection process.
The allegations have raised questions among aspirants about the evaluation process and the criteria used to prepare the shortlist. However, the claims have not been independently established, and the commission’s response to the allegations was not available in the information provided.
