Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa has directed strict action against agencies found negligent in repairing roads during the Defect Liability Period (DLP). He made it clear that if a road is damaged and the concerned agency fails to repair it on time, the department will not delay taking action.
Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa issued these directions while chairing a review meeting with Public Works Department officials at his office in the Haryana Civil Secretariat.
Gangwa said that approximately 19,000 kilometres of roads in the state are currently under the Defect Liability Period. The responsibility for maintaining these roads and carrying out timely repairs rests with the concerned agencies.
The Minister said that roads are directly connected to the daily commute of the general public, and therefore, negligence in their maintenance will not be tolerated at any level. He directed SEs, XENs and other senior officers to inspect roads in the field at least three days a week. If any road is found broken or damaged during inspections, the repair process must be initiated immediately.
He also directed officials to strictly comply with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s instructions to resolve complaints received through the ‘Mhari Sadak’ app within 10 days. He said that action taken on complaints received through the app must not remain confined to paperwork; officials must visit the site and ensure that the problem is actually resolved.
