New Delhi: Virat Kohli has revealed that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be his final appearance for India in the global 50-over tournament, giving the upcoming edition added significance for the veteran batter.
Kohli, who is now focused solely on ODI cricket after stepping away from the other international formats, made the announcement ahead of India’s upcoming series against the West Indies.
The 37-year-old said the prospect of playing his final World Cup for India is providing him with additional motivation. He made it clear that winning the tournament remains his primary objective and that he intends to give his maximum effort during the campaign.
The 2027 World Cup is scheduled to be hosted jointly by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Kohli will enter the tournament with extensive World Cup experience, having been part of India’s victorious campaign in 2011.
Kohli was only 22 when India lifted the trophy on home soil under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Since then, he has remained one of the most influential figures in India’s ODI setup and has featured in several World Cup campaigns.
