Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees by 8 percentage points, taking it from the existing 42% to 50%.
The revised DA will come into effect from September 1, 2026, according to an order issued by the Finance Department on Wednesday.
The enhanced allowance will be reflected in the salary payable for September 2026, providing relief to employees covered under the Punjab Government’s decision.
Finance Department Issues Notification
The notification was issued by the Finance Department’s Finance Personnel-1 Branch. It states that the revised DA has been approved by the Governor of Punjab and will apply to eligible state government employees.
The department has circulated the order to senior administrative officials and other authorities concerned with implementing the decision.
The communication has been sent to Special Chief Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries, Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries, besides Heads of Departments and Divisional Commissioners.
Deputy Commissioners, District and Sessions Judges and other concerned authorities have also been informed about the revised DA rate.
DA Increased to 50%
With the latest revision, Punjab Government employees will now receive DA at 50% of the applicable salary basis, compared with the earlier rate of 42%.
The new rate will be applicable from September 1, 2026, while the September salary will carry the enhanced DA as per the government notification.
