Chandigarh: Haryana is preparing to accelerate the adoption of digital healthcare systems with a clear focus on making patient care more seamless, coordinated and accessible, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra said on Thursday.

Addressing a state-level workshop today at Gurugram on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) Model District and Health Institutions, Dr. Misra said digital health should not remain limited to technology or registration of institutions, but must ultimately translate into better services and greater convenience for patients.

She said ABDM is designed to create a secure and seamless link between patients and healthcare providers, allowing health information to be accessed securely and improving coordination between different healthcare institutions.

Dr. Misra said Haryana has already made significant progress under ABDM, with over 1.92 crore ABHA IDs created, covering nearly 65 per cent of the state’s estimated population. She said the focus now should be on expanding coverage as well as ensuring meaningful utilisation of digital health services.

While registration of government hospitals and doctors in Haryana under ABDM is almost complete, Dr. Misra stressed the need to significantly expand participation by private hospitals, healthcare institutions and doctors.

She said interoperable digital systems can strengthen programmes related to maternal and child health, immunisation, non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, emergency care, diagnostics, referral services and public health surveillance.

Dr. Misra also highlighted the responsibility of Ayushman Bharat-empanelled hospitals towards maternal and child health, saying healthcare institutions must play a proactive role in tackling concerns such as maternal mortality and infant mortality.
