Chandigarh: The Punjab government has appointed nodal chairmen and members to coordinate relief and damage assessment in villages hit by recent floods.
Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the state has identified 2,303 affected villages where immediate support is needed. The nodal representatives will work alongside district administrations and gazetted officers to ensure timely execution of relief measures.
Mundian stated that the officers will oversee distribution of aid, assess crop, livestock, and housing losses, and speed up compensation claims. He added that the teams will also help provide medical camps, livelihood support, sanitation drives, and resettlement facilities for families who lost their homes.
The minister directed deputy commissioners and sub-divisional authorities to extend full cooperation and share necessary resources with the appointees. He assured that the state remains committed to restoring normalcy and supporting every affected citizen.
