New York/Kapurthala: A 25-year-old Indian youth from Punjab was fatally shot in New York while working his pizza delivery shift on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Gurdeep Singh, a native of Jabbowal village located in the Bholath sub-division of Kapurthala district.
According to his father, Pyare Lal, Gurdeep had moved to the United States nine years ago and was actively pursuing his permanent residency through legal channels. Family members shared that he had previously worked at a retail store before transitioning to food delivery services to earn a living.
The fatal incident occurred on August 22 when Gurdeep arrived to complete an order delivery. Assailants opened fire on him following a confrontation over payment for the food, resulting in his immediate death. The tragic news has plunged his native village into deep mourning as the family appeals for justice and administrative assistance.
