Amritsar: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled two alleged cross-border terror modules believed to be operating with the support of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Nine suspects, including four juveniles, have been taken into custody during the operation.

According to the police, the raids led to the seizure of three illegal pistols, four petrol bombs and nine live cartridges. Officials described the recoveries as a major step in preventing potential terror-related activities in the region.

Preliminary findings suggest that the accused were allegedly working under the directions of foreign-based ISI handlers. Investigators believe the network was attempting to recruit local youth for activities such as conducting reconnaissance of sensitive security locations, arranging illegal firearms and carrying out acts aimed at disturbing public order.

During the investigation, police also uncovered an alleged surveillance operation in which cameras had been installed near railway tracks. Authorities suspect that footage captured from these locations was being transmitted to handlers based abroad.

Separate FIRs have been registered at Mohkampura Police Station, Airport Police Station and C-Division Police Station in Amritsar under relevant provisions of law. Officials said the investigation is continuing to identify other members of the network, establish its domestic and international links, trace the source of funding and determine whether those arrested were involved in any other terror-related conspiracies.

Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling cross-border terror networks and ensuring the safety, peace and security of the state through sustained intelligence-led operations.
