Noida: A firefighting operation at an electronics chip manufacturing unit in Greater Noida turned tragic after a portion of the building collapsed, killing two fire personnel and injuring three others late Sunday night.
According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Ecotech-3 Police Station, where a fire broke out at the manufacturing facility. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the emergency call and launched efforts to contain the blaze.
Wall and Iron Beam Collapse During Rescue Operation
While firefighters were battling the flames, a section of the factory wall, along with a heavy iron beam, suddenly gave way. The collapse trapped several members of the firefighting team who were engaged in the rescue operation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shailendra Kumar Singh confirmed that Fire Service personnel Tirthpal Singh and Rohit Yadav lost their lives in the accident.
Three other firefighters sustained injuries in the collapse and were rushed for medical treatment. Their condition has not been officially disclosed.
Rescue Teams Responded Immediately
Officials said emergency teams worked swiftly to rescue those trapped under the debris. The fire was brought under control after sustained efforts by the firefighting personnel.
Authorities have expressed condolences over the loss of the two firefighters, who were performing rescue duties when the accident occurred.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established. Officials have launched an investigation to determine how the blaze started and whether structural weaknesses in the building contributed to the collapse.
