Chandigarh: In a major relief for candidates appearing in the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Level-1 examination, Northern Railway has announced the operation of six unreserved special trains across Punjab from August 3 to August 6 to facilitate smooth travel during the examination period.
According to Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the additional train services have been introduced to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic and ensure that candidates can reach their examination centres without difficulty.
All six trains will operate as unreserved services, allowing passengers to travel by purchasing regular unreserved tickets available at railway station booking counters.
The special services will connect key cities, including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Phagwara and Muktsar, benefiting thousands of aspirants travelling for the examination.
Special Train Schedule
Train No. 04601 – Ferozepur Cantt to Amritsar
The train will depart from Ferozepur Cantt at 11:00 pm every day from August 3 to August 6, with a scheduled halt at Jalandhar City.
Train No. 04602 – Amritsar to Ferozepur Cantt
The return service will leave Amritsar Junction at 4:20 pm during the same period and will also stop at Jalandhar City.
Train No. 04603 – Ludhiana to Jalandhar City
This early morning service will depart Ludhiana Junction at 4:25 am from August 3 to 6, primarily catering to candidates travelling to examination centres.
Train No. 04604 – Jalandhar City to Ludhiana
For the return journey, this train will leave Jalandhar City at 8:50 pm each day between August 3 and August 6.
Train No. 04605 – Muktsar to Phagwara
The train will depart Muktsar at 12:15 am, stopping at Kotkapura, Faridkot, Ferozepur Cantt and Ludhiana Junction before reaching Phagwara.
Train No. 04606 – Phagwara to Muktsar
The return service will start from Phagwara Junction at 4:20 pm, covering the same stations in reverse before terminating at Muktsar.
Railways Advises Candidates to Verify Timings
Northern Railway has advised passengers, particularly RRB examination candidates, to confirm train timings before starting their journey. Travellers can obtain updated information through the Railway helpline number 139 or by checking the official railway enquiry portal.
Officials have also urged candidates to reach their respective stations well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience and ensure timely arrival at their examination centres. The special train services are expected to significantly ease travel during the four-day examination period.
