New Delhi: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Minister of State for PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh held a two-hour meeting on Friday with representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to address ongoing concerns regarding national competitive examinations. Speaking to media persons following the discussions at Vithalbhai Patel House, Nadda stated that the CJP delegation presented three primary demands alongside five specific proposals for examination process reforms. The central leadership confirmed it will hold a follow-up meeting with the delegation on Saturday afternoon after internal government consultations.
Represented by Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das and National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, the youth-led group entered negotiations after securing preliminary guarantees, including immunity from legal prosecution for peaceful demonstrators and financial compensation for families affected by recent examination irregularities. However, CJP leadership maintained that its core demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remains non-negotiable.
The diplomatic engagement follows social activist Sonam Wangchuk formally ending his 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital around midnight on Thursday. Wangchuk concluded his fast in the presence of Ministers Nadda and Singh after receiving written assurances regarding formal parliamentary discussions on systemic education reforms and the protection of student protesters.
Concurrently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation via a video message, announcing that the Union Cabinet will review a draft bill establishing fast-track courts and strict penalties for paper leak offenses. The Prime Minister reassured affected students and their families that the administration prioritizes preventing academic delay, highlighting the rapid re-testing and timely declaration of results for approximately 22 lakh candidates.
