New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced on Thursday that it will organise a massive, peaceful protest march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20, 2026, to coincide with the opening day of the parliamentary Monsoon Session. The youth-led political outfit stated that the demonstration aims to seek strict government accountability over repeated competitive examination failures, institutional irregularities, and rampant paper leak scams that have plagued the country. The party has thrown out an open invitation to students, parents, and citizens across the nation to travel to the capital and participate in the demonstration.

The key announcement was made on the 11th day of activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. In a video message, Wangchuk made an emotional appeal to citizens across the country to join the proposed march, emphasizing that Parliament is the ultimate venue where the structural concerns of students must be debated and where statutory changes can be enacted. He noted that sending messages of solidarity from home would not solve the crisis or prevent future student suicides, urging people to physically assemble in New Delhi. According to medical bulletins released by doctors monitoring the strike, Wangchuk’s health has deteriorated significantly, with a recorded weight loss of over seven kilograms since he began his fast.

Speaking to the media regarding the logistics of the march, Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Vijeta Dhaiya confirmed that the primary goal is to heavily mobilise public support and intensify pressure on the central government. Dhaiya noted that because the current administration has systematically ignored their core demand for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the protesters intend to march closer to the corridors of power to ensure their grievances are heard. The party leadership stated that the march will also be held to honour the memory of the numerous students who tragically lost their lives to suicide due to the continuous failures and high pressures of India’s current examination infrastructure.

The ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar has entered its twentieth day and continues to gain momentum, drawing solidarity from several student unions, civil society groups, and opposition political leaders. Fasting student leaders from organisations like the All India Students’ Association (AISA) have also faced severe medical complications, with some requiring hospitalisation. Despite the medical emergencies and escalating demonstrations, CJP organizers maintain that the hunger strike and the upcoming Parliament march will remain strictly peaceful. They have reiterated that their delegation intends to present a comprehensive list of demands and structural education reform proposals directly to lawmakers as soon as the Monsoon Session commences.
