MEERUT — A controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district after a video surfaced on social media showing a teacher repeatedly slapping a Grade 10 student inside a classroom at PM Shri Government Inter College in Hastinapur.

The incident reportedly took place around noon on Thursday when the educator entered the classroom and confronted the student over an academic dispute. According to the student’s family, the teacher began assaulting the boy, who lowered his head to shield himself from the blows. Despite the student’s attempts to protect himself, the teacher allegedly continued the physical assault while threatening to have his name struck off the school’s enrollment records.

The boy’s father, Ramesh, stated that he learned of the ordeal once his son returned home from school. He immediately accompanied the student back to the institution to register a formal grievance with the principal, Amit Kumar, before submitting a written complaint at the Hastinapur police station seeking legal action against the teacher.

Local authorities confirmed that both parties have since arrived at a mutual resolution regarding the altercation. Mawana Circle Officer Pankaj Lavania stated that while a formal complaint had been lodged by the boy’s relatives, both sides subsequently reached a compromise, resulting in no further police action being pursued for the time being.
