Ambala: A massive, high-stakes rescue operation has been launched in Dhanora village of Haryana’s Ambala district after a four-year-old boy accidentally fell into an open, uncovered borewell early Tuesday morning. The multi-agency rescue effort has brought together specialized teams from the Indian Army, the National Disaster Response Force, local police, and the Ambala district administration, all working frantically against the clock to save the child.
According to local authorities, the tragic incident took place at approximately 6:00 am in an agricultural field, where the borewell, estimated to be around 220 feet deep, had reportedly been left completely exposed by a farmer. Upon receiving the alarm, rescue teams rushed to the site with heavy machinery, earthmovers, and specialized medical equipment. Emergency personnel are currently digging a parallel pit next to the borewell and are continuously pumping oxygen into the shaft to sustain the child.
Senior administrative and police officials are currently camping at the site to coordinate the intensive rescue logistics. The district administration has not yet released an official update regarding the child’s health condition or exact depth inside the shaft, as the operation remains highly sensitive and ongoing. The unfortunate accident has once again sparked widespread concern and anger among local residents regarding the persistent hazard of abandoned or uncovered borewells, highlighting an urgent need for stricter safety compliance and legal penalties to prevent such preventable disasters.
