New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remembered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, describing the veteran leader as a statesman whose vision and commitment to public service continue to influence the country.
Modi paid floral tributes at Vajpayee’s memorial, ‘Sadaiv Atal’, and recalled the former prime minister’s contribution to India’s political and national life.
In a post on X, Modi said Vajpayee devoted his life to serving the nation and possessed an exceptional vision. He also highlighted Vajpayee’s ability to inspire generations through his words and work.
The Prime Minister said Vajpayee’s leadership had contributed to strengthening the country and that his emphasis on good governance and the welfare of citizens remains relevant.
Leaders pay respects
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan were among the other leaders who visited ‘Sadaiv Atal’ to pay their respects to the former prime minister.
Several other political leaders and dignitaries also gathered at the memorial as the nation marked Vajpayee’s death anniversary.
Vajpayee remembered for public service
Vajpayee, one of India’s most prominent political figures, served as Prime Minister and remained an influential voice in the country’s public life for several decades.
His political career was marked by his oratory, parliamentary contributions and emphasis on governance and national development.
