New Delhi: Television actress Shilpa Shinde has openly questioned the authority of the Cine and TV Artistes Association following its recent intervention in her ongoing dispute with the production house of the comedy series Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. Expressing defiance against potential disciplinary actions and non-cooperation directives, Shinde emphasized that her career cannot be constrained by a single television project or the restrictions imposed by industry bodies.
The friction intensified after the show’s producer, Binaifer Kohli, approached the association regarding Shinde’s decision to stop filming, which the production house labelled as unprofessional. While the trade body subsequently directed the actress to return to the sets and resume her scheduled shooting commitments, Shinde has firmly rejected the order, stating her intention to address the contractual dispute through legal channels instead.
The impasse has significantly impacted Shinde’s upcoming commitments, effectively stalling her projected transition to other high-profile broadcaster assignments. Criticizing the association for allegedly prioritizing producer interests over artist welfare, Shinde maintained that an industry body lacks the legal mandate to restrict an actor’s employment opportunities across different networks.
