Young Personnel Are Strengthening Punjab Police’s Frontline Response & Crime-Fighting Capabilities

CHANDIGARH: The success of Punjab Police doesn’t only rely on the experienced shoulders of senior personnel, but also on the grit of young officers who are holding the bright future of the nation’s most powerful force.

The state police is working under a unique blend of having young officers at various posts from constable to DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police), which helps curb the crime and gangs not only using modern technology, but also with a fearless approach. The state force has as many as 4,253 personnel between the age group of 27 to 29 years, and a total of 3,978 are below the age group of 27, enabling the international border sharing state to have a mix of force in fighting all kinds of crimes. The latest recruitment by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government under the supervision of Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav ensured building a force capable of ensuring a safe state for its’ residents.

As per the records, Punjab has as many as 6,666 constables, 973 senior constables, 347 Sub-Inspectors, 186 Head Constables — below 29 years. Notably, out of total 6,666 as many as 3,855 belong to the age group of 20 to 26 years, while 1,198 are of 29 years; 1,125 are of 28 years and 488 belong to the 27-year-old bracket.

On this, DGP Gaurav Yadav said, “The Punjab Police force is capable of handling any situation and tackling the criminals under any circumstances. Through various recruitment drives, the force has 8,231 personnel below the age of 29 years. I take pride in the fact that the majority of youngsters are the frontline officers and station staff, who directly deal with the responsibility of tackling the situation.

The drive to add more youngsters is not over yet, as Punjab Police launched a massive Constable Recruitment Drive for 3,298 vacancies, for which the upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT) will commence on July 1. The addition to the force will ensure more presence of frontline force for better coordination with state residents of all age group.
