Punjab Shuts Skill Development Institutions Amid Flood Crisis

Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora on Wednesday announced the closure of several institutions under the Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Department as the state continues to battle widespread flooding caused by incessant rainfall.

Taking to the social media platform X, Arora informed that Skill Development Centres, C-Pite Camps, and the Armed Forces Preparatory Institute will remain shut until September 7, 2025, citing safety concerns for students and staff.

“The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann Ji, is working round the clock to safeguard lives and property during this difficult time,” Arora wrote.

The minister reiterated that all precautionary steps are being taken to minimize risks and ensure timely relief operations. Meanwhile, authorities have urged citizens to strictly adhere to local administration advisories as several districts remain under flood alerts.
