Chandigarh/New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin will undertake his first official visit to Punjab after assuming charge of the party, with a three-day tour scheduled from June 20 to June 22.
According to party sources, the visit is aimed at combining spiritual outreach with organisational strengthening as the BJP seeks to expand its political presence in the state.
The tour will cover major cities, including Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana, and will focus on both grassroots engagement and internal party planning.
Nabin will begin his visit on June 20 by paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar.
On June 21, coinciding with the 12th International Yoga Day, he is scheduled to participate in a large-scale yoga programme at Lovely Professional University (LPU). Party leaders said the event will highlight the BJP’s support for the global wellness movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The final day of the visit, June 22, will be devoted to organisational matters. Nabin is expected to chair a meeting of senior state BJP leaders and office-bearers to review political strategies and discuss measures to strengthen the party’s organisational structure at the booth and district levels.
International Yoga Day is observed annually on June 21 following its adoption by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 after a proposal by Prime Minister Modi. The event has since grown into a global movement promoting physical and mental well-being.
Party sources said Nabin’s Punjab visit reflects the BJP’s efforts to align national initiatives with local political outreach while accelerating organisational expansion under the new leadership.
