New Delhi: In an unprecedented step to restore absolute credibility and protect the integrity of the medical entrance process, authorities have announced that the Indian Air Force will be actively engaged to transport question papers for the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The sweeping logistical upgrade comes as a direct response to the massive paper leak scandal that disrupted the initial national-level examination. With the crucial retest scheduled across the country on June 21, 2026, the implementation of military-grade distribution is being handled as a vital trust-restoration exercise for over 22 lakh affected students.
Under this high-security protocol, the Indian Air Force is slated to airlift confidential examination packets from 18 strategically designated regional hubs directly to distribution centres and localized examination hubs nationwide. The operation will rely heavily on the IAF’s fleet of Russian-manufactured Mi-17 medium-lift helicopters alongside other specialized air assets. Known globally for its exceptional operational efficiency and versatility, the Mi-17 framework is routinely deployed for troop deployment, disaster relief, and strategic logistics. The advanced Mi-17 V5 variant features highly sophisticated avionics, upgraded engines, and comprehensive night-flying capabilities, making it ideally suited to safely navigate remote, sensitive, or logistically challenging regions.
This airlift strategy forms part of a multi-layered security layout engineered by the government to wipe out any physical vulnerabilities or transit delays in the distribution chain. Alongside the aerial deployment, extraordinary administrative security measures have simultaneously been rolled out on the ground. Question paper setters, translators, and moderators have already been relocated to an undisclosed, secure facility where they will remain under a strict communication lockdown with no access to internet services, mobile phones, or external computing until the exam concludes on June 21. By leveraging the proven, precision-based capabilities of the IAF, education and security officials aim to provide a completely tamper-proof and tightly monitored environment for the upcoming re-examination.
