Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that it facilitated the transfer of USD 3 billion to Iran, describing the allegations as false and without any factual basis.
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that no frozen Iranian assets have been released, transferred or processed through the country. The ministry said the circulating reports were inaccurate and did not reflect the reality of the situation.
The clarification came after certain international media platforms published claims alleging that billions of dollars had been moved from the UAE to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The ministry stressed that such assertions are completely unfounded and should not be treated as credible information.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency and adherence to international financial regulations, the UAE government stated that it has not played any role in facilitating the movement of Iranian funds as alleged in the reports.
The ministry also urged media organisations and digital platforms to exercise greater responsibility while reporting on sensitive international matters. It called on journalists and news outlets to rely on verified official sources and avoid publishing or circulating unconfirmed information that could create confusion or misinformation.
The statement reflects the UAE’s effort to address speculation surrounding financial transactions involving Iran and underscores the importance of fact-based reporting in matters related to international diplomacy and economic affairs.
By issuing a categorical denial, the UAE has sought to put an end to the controversy and reaffirm its position that no such transfer of funds has taken place through its financial system.
