US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Donald Trump Issues Fresh Military Warning, Tehran Vows Fierce Response

Tehran/Washington: The standoff between the United States and Iran intensified on Wednesday after President Donald Trump warned of fresh military action if Tehran failed to accept Washington’s proposed terms for ending the ongoing conflict, while Iranian officials responded with threats of severe regional consequences.

Speaking after a new round of American strikes on Iranian targets, Trump claimed that US forces had carried out a major operation involving dozens of Tomahawk missiles. He also asserted that Iranian officials had attempted to contact him in an effort to halt the bombardment, warning that stronger action would follow if no agreement was reached.

Iran swiftly rejected the President’s claims, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps dismissing reports of any direct outreach to Washington. Iranian officials described the remarks as an attempt to justify continued military operations rather than pursue diplomacy.

The exchange came as the United States launched what it described as additional self-defence strikes against multiple military installations inside Iran, targeting infrastructure believed to support Tehran’s defence capabilities.

Meanwhile, senior Iranian military commanders issued fresh warnings over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that any move to destabilise the waterway would trigger a forceful response across the region. Iranian state-linked sources claimed restrictions had been imposed on maritime movement through the strait, although US Central Command disputed the assertion and maintained that commercial shipping continued without interruption.

The renewed escalation has cast further doubt over ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending months of hostilities. While Washington has repeatedly expressed hope for a negotiated settlement, both sides have continued exchanging military strikes, keeping the region on edge.

President Trump reiterated that a deal remains possible but accused Iran of delaying negotiations. He indicated that the United States was prepared to intensify pressure if diplomatic progress failed to materialise.

The conflict, which has disrupted regional stability and affected global energy markets, continues to draw international concern. Analysts warn that any further escalation involving the Strait of Hormuz could have significant consequences for international trade and oil supplies, given the route’s critical importance to global energy transportation.

With both sides maintaining aggressive positions while leaving the door open for negotiations, uncertainty continues to dominate the security landscape across the Middle East.
