Chandigarh, June 10: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday held meetings with representatives of the Gram Panchayat Jal Supply Pump Operators Association, the MGNREGA Karamchari Union and the Zameen Prapti Sangharsh Committee to discuss and address their concerns.
During the meetings, the Finance Minister reviewed memorandums submitted by the union representatives and listened to their issues related to workplace challenges, administrative matters and financial difficulties.
Punjab Government Committed to Welfare of Workers and Employees
Reiterating the commitment of the Bhagwant Mann Government towards employees, workers and marginalized communities, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab Government remains fully dedicated to safeguarding the interests of its workforce.
“The CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is deeply committed to the welfare of workers, labourers and underprivileged sections of society. No genuine concern will be ignored,” he said.
Departments Directed to Act on Legitimate Demands
Following detailed discussions, the Finance Minister directed the concerned departments to process, evaluate and take necessary action on all legitimate demands within a stipulated timeframe.
Officials from the respective departments present during the meeting assured that file clearances and inter-departmental evaluations would begin immediately to ensure prompt resolution of the issues raised by the unions.
Representing the Gram Panchayat Jal Supply Pump Operators Association were Beant Singh, Avtar Singh and Bohar Singh. The MGNREGA Karamchari Union was represented by Gursewak Singh, Harminder Singh and Amandeep Mansa, while Mukesh Malod and Dharamvir Harigarh represented the Zameen Prapti Sangharsh Committee.
The meetings were part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts to maintain regular dialogue with employees and workers while ensuring timely resolution of their concerns.
