Punjab News: Punjab Police Cracks Down on Gang Networks, 303 Arrested in Day 141 of ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ Campaign

Chandigarh, June 10: Punjab Police continued its statewide crackdown on organised crime under the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, conducting 557 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates across Punjab on Wednesday.

The anti-gangster drive, launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, entered its 141st day on Wednesday. The operation is being carried out jointly by district police teams and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab with the aim of making the state free from gangster networks and criminal activities.

303 Arrested, Total Arrests Cross 35,000

According to official information, police teams arrested 303 individuals during the day-long operation and recovered two weapons from their possession.

With these arrests, the total number of people apprehended under the campaign has reached 35,662 since its launch.

Police also took preventive action against 123 persons, while 12 individuals were questioned, verified and later released. During the operation, seven Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were also arrested.

Punjab Police has urged citizens to share information related to wanted criminals and gangsters through the Anti-Gangster Helpline Number 93946-93946, where information can be provided anonymously.

Drug Crackdown Continues Under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’

Alongside the anti-gangster campaign, Punjab Police also continued its anti-drug drive ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 466th day on Wednesday.

During the day, police arrested 90 drug smugglers and recovered 5.2 kilograms of heroin, 35 kilograms of poppy husk, 360 intoxicant tablets and ₹2,600 drug money from their possession.

Officials said the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 67,662 in the last 466 days.

As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also motivated 12 individuals to undergo treatment for drug addiction on Wednesday.

Punjab Police stated that both campaigns will continue with full intensity to ensure public safety, curb organised crime and eliminate the drug menace from the state.
