Tehran/Washington: Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply after Iran claimed responsibility for launching strikes against United States military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, following a reported US military operation targeting Iranian positions.
According to Iranian authorities, the attacks were carried out in response to US airstrikes on several locations inside Iran after an American Apache attack helicopter was reportedly brought down. Tehran said the operation also targeted the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, one of Washington’s most significant military assets in the Gulf region.
The developments mark a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the United States, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict involving multiple countries across the Middle East.
