In a formal communication sent on Friday, the pilots’ body argued that the continued postponement of stricter Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) is creating a dangerous environment characterized by chronic fatigue. The association maintains that the well-being of flight crews is being compromised, directly impacting the safety and reliability of air travel across the country.
According to the association, the regulatory environment has been weakened by repeated concessions granted to airlines, which have effectively diluted the original intent of safety protocols. These temporary exemptions have reportedly become the norm rather than the exception, allowing air carriers to operate at the very edge of regulatory limits without sufficient safety margins. ALPA contends that such a culture undermines established fatigue management systems and forces pilots to work under conditions that are physiologically unsustainable.
