Ghaziabad: A major fire broke out in a residential high-rise in Ghaziabad on Wednesday morning, triggering panic among residents and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

The incident occurred at a ninth-floor apartment in the Gaur Green Avenue society located in Indirapuram. The fire was first reported around 8:50 a.m. and quickly intensified, spreading to several floors of the building. Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising high above the premises, visible even from the nearby Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Strong winds further complicated firefighting efforts, allowing flames to travel rapidly across floors. According to officials, at least seven to eight levels of the building were impacted before the situation was brought under control.

Fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot, with around 15 fire tenders deployed to contain the blaze. Authorities stated that no individuals are believed to be trapped inside the affected apartments, though precautionary evacuations were carried out.

The incident drew immediate attention from the state leadership, with Yogi Adityanath directing senior administrative and police officials to reach the site and ensure swift relief operations. He also warned that any negligence in handling the situation would face strict action.

The fire adds to a series of recent incidents reported across the National Capital Region. Just last week, a fatal blaze in Delhi’s Paharganj claimed the life of an elderly resident, while several other fire-related cases were recorded in parts of Gautam Buddh Nagar, including market and residential areas.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the Ghaziabad fire, while urging residents in high-rise buildings to follow safety protocols and remain vigilant.
