Delhi: A fresh political confrontation has broken out in Delhi after sharp exchanges between leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over allegations related to an alleged luxury residence.
Senior AAP leader and former Chief Minister Atishi dismissed claims made by BJP leaders, stating that images being circulated of Arvind Kejriwal’s residence were fabricated. In a social media post, she challenged BJP leaders to make their own homes public for scrutiny, asserting that Kejriwal would also open his residence for inspection, leaving the judgment to citizens.
On the other hand, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma launched a strong attack on AAP, accusing the party of hypocrisy. He questioned the expenditure involved in constructing or renovating what he referred to as a “Sheesh Mahal,” allegedly linked to Kejriwal’s residence. Verma demanded transparency regarding the source of funds and asked whether public money had been used.
He also took aim at the party’s internal situation, claiming that several workers were distancing themselves from AAP due to dissatisfaction with its leadership. According to him, the party had strayed from its original image of simplicity and honesty.
The controversy has added fuel to the ongoing political rivalry between AAP and BJP in the national capital, with both sides trading allegations ahead of upcoming political developments. While AAP maintains that the accusations are baseless and politically motivated, BJP leaders continue to press for answers on the issue.
No official inquiry has been announced so far, but the debate is expected to intensify as both parties seek to gain public support on the matter.
