Mandatory biometric update camps in government and private schools across state to begin on 20th April

SHIMLA: A Spokesperson of Department of Digital Technologies and Governance today here informed that the department in co-ordination with the Department of School Education and Samagra Shiksha, would organizing Mandatory Biometric Update camps in government and private schools across the State with effect from 20th April, 2026.

Spokesperson informed that the purpose of these camps is to facilitate the Mandatory Biometric Update of Aadhaar for children who have attained the age of five years or 15 years. As per UIDAI guidelines, children are required to update their biometric details – fingerprints, iris scan and photograph on attaining these ages to ensure continued validity and accuracy of Aadhaar.

He informed that the camps would be conducted district-wise phased manner in schools across the state. Students and parents are requested to co-operate with school authorities and camp teams for timely completion of the update process. He informed that Parents and guardians are advised to ensure that their child carries copy of Aadhaar Card of the child, Mobile number linked with Aadhaar (preferably) and presence of parent/guardian, if required.

The spokesperson informed that all parents should avail this facility and complete the Mandatory Biometric Update of eligible children within the stipulated time to avoid inconvenience in availing Aadhaar-based services in future.
