New Delhi: A widespread technical failure in Reliance Jio’s fiber network caused major disruptions across India on Sunday, leaving lakhs of users without broadband, WiFi, and landline connectivity for several hours.
The outage, which began early in the morning, impacted customers in multiple cities and states, effectively cutting off internet access for homes and businesses alike. Users also reported that the MyJio application was unresponsive, preventing them from registering complaints or accessing support services.
A senior official from the telecom company acknowledged the disruption, stating that technical teams were actively working to restore services. However, no specific reason for the large-scale outage was provided.
The incident quickly sparked outrage online, with thousands of users taking to social media platforms to express frustration. The hashtag “#JioDown” gained traction as customers shared their experiences of sudden connectivity loss and inability to reach customer care channels.
Reports of the outage came in from major urban centres including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Chandigarh, along with several smaller towns. Internet monitoring platforms also recorded a sharp spike in complaints, indicating the extensive reach of the disruption.
As one of India’s largest telecom providers with a massive subscriber base, even a temporary breakdown in Jio’s services has a significant impact on daily life, especially for those relying on stable internet for work, education, and communication.
While restoration efforts were underway, users were advised to keep an eye on official updates for information regarding service resumption. The incident has once again raised concerns about network reliability and customer support preparedness during large-scale outages.
