Patiala: Several schools in Patiala were thrown into a state of alert on Thursday morning after receiving bomb threat emails, prompting swift action by law enforcement agencies to ensure student safety.
Among the institutions targeted were Yadavindra Public School, Mount Litera Zee School, Kendriya Vidyalaya Patiala, and Apollo Public School. Authorities responded immediately after being informed, deploying multiple teams to evacuate the premises and begin thorough searches.
Police officials confirmed that students were safely sent home as a precautionary measure, while security personnel combed the campuses for any suspicious objects. DSP Satnam Singh stated that the response was initiated without delay to avoid any potential risk.
Parents rushed to the schools upon hearing the news, leading to scenes of concern outside campuses as children were escorted out. School authorities, including YPS headmaster Navin Kumar Dixit, were unavailable for immediate comment.
Senior officers, including SP (Investigation) Gurbans Bains, confirmed that teams are examining the threatening emails and continuing search operations across all affected locations.
The situation has drawn heightened attention as Gulab Chand Kataria was in the city for an event at Punjabi University at the time. Officials indicated that the threat is being treated with utmost seriousness, with additional police deployment across key areas.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the source and credibility of the emails, while authorities remain on high alert to ensure the safety of students and staff.
