Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann on Monday assured farmers that the state government will fully compensate those whose crops were damaged due to unseasonal rainfall and severe hailstorms across parts of Punjab.

The Chief Minister directed the administration to carry out immediate special assessments, known as girdawari, in the affected regions to accurately evaluate the extent of crop losses. He emphasized that the process must be completed swiftly to ensure timely relief.

Mann further stated that once the assessment reports are finalized, compensation will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts without delay, providing much-needed financial support to those impacted.

The announcement comes amid widespread concern among farmers following recent weather disturbances that have adversely affected standing crops in several districts.
