Ferozepur: Ferozepur Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in their “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, arresting three individuals and recovering 5.765 kg of heroin across three separate operations. SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu detailed the crackdown on Saturday, March 21, 2026, noting that the operations were based on specific intelligence aimed at dismantling local drug networks. The most notable arrest involved a high-profile smuggler, Al Baksh, who was already wanted in multiple major cases involving narcotics and illegal weaponry.

The first operation, conducted by CIA Staff Zira on March 18, led to the arrest of Jasvir Singh (alias Kaka) and Sukhwinder Singh (alias Sukhi). The duo, both residents of Ferozepur, was found in possession of 1.052 kg of heroin. Following this, on March 19, police apprehended Al Baksh (alias Kaka) and seized a substantial 2.725 kg of heroin. Al Baksh has a notorious criminal history, including involvement in a 2024 case involving the seizure of 7 kg of heroin, ₹36 lakh in drug money, and a cache of firearms. His arrest is seen as a major blow to the cross-border smuggling syndicate operating in the Malwa belt.

In a third coordinated strike on March 20, an unidentified suspect was taken into custody after police recovered 1.988 kg of heroin. Separate FIRs have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sadar Police Station in Ferozepur. SSP Sidhu emphasized that Al Baksh had been under intense surveillance due to his prior involvement in cases involving 315 bore rifles, pistols, and significant amounts of drug money across 2024.

The Ferozepur Police are currently conducting further investigations to trace the forward and backward linkages of these consignments, specifically looking into potential international connections given the proximity to the border. SSP Sidhu reiterated the department’s unwavering commitment to making Punjab drug-free and urged the public to continue providing tips to assist law enforcement. The recovered contraband is estimated to have a high value in the international market, and the suspects are being interrogated to identify their handlers.
