Mohali: Punjab bid an emotional farewell to celebrated comedian Jaswinder Bhalla, who was cremated with full honours in Mohali. The veteran artist, who brought laughter to countless households through his films and stage performances, passed away early on August 22 following a brain stroke.
His mortal remains were first brought to his residence from Fortis Hospital, where he breathed his last around 4 a.m. on Thursday. Family members, close friends, and admirers gathered to pay their respects before the funeral procession moved towards the cremation ground. Amid a heavy presence of fans and cultural figures, Bhalla was laid to rest with honour and dignity.
Known for his unmatched comic timing and ability to weave satire into everyday situations, Bhalla was considered a pillar of Punjabi entertainment. His passing has left a deep void in Punjab’s cultural landscape, with tributes pouring in from the film fraternity, political leaders, and his admirers across the globe.
