New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended two additional suspects in connection with the fatal car bomb explosion that occurred near Delhi’s historic Red Fort last year. The individuals, identified as Zameer Ahmad of Ganderbal and Tufail Ahmad Bhat of Srinagar, are believed to be active members of the terrorist outfit Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind. With these latest arrests, the total number of individuals taken into custody in relation to the November 10 attack has risen to 11.

According to the official statement released by the NIA, the two men played a critical role in the conspiracy by supplying weaponry and ammunition to the primary suspect, Umar Un Nabi. It is important to note that Umar Un Nabi, who allegedly spearheaded the operation, was killed during the actual explosion. Investigative findings suggest that Zameer and Tufail were not only instrumental in this specific attack but have also been involved in several other terror-related plots aimed at destabilising the region.

The blast, which took place late last year, resulted in multiple casualties and significant injuries to bystanders, prompting a multi-agency probe. The NIA has been working in close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, and other central security agencies to track down the logistics network supporting the attack. Evidence gathered during the probe indicates that the suspects were actively amassing arms and explosives intended for use against national interests.

The federal agency continues to examine digital and physical evidence to uncover the full extent of the network behind the Red Fort blast. The arrests of Zameer and Tufail are seen as a significant breakthrough in dismantling the local support structure of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind. Both suspects are expected to be produced before a special NIA court as the investigation enters its next phase of identifying further links in the supply chain.
