Tragic Head-On Collision Claims Three Lives Near Budaun During Wedding Return

Budaun (Uttar Pradesh): A joyous occasion turned into a tragedy early Sunday morning when a private bus carrying a wedding party collided head-on with a state-run Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus. The horrific accident, which occurred around 5:00 a.m. near Jarolia village on the Bareilly-Mathura highway, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left 15 others injured.

The wedding party was traveling back from Barakala village in Shahjahanpur and was en route to Nagla Bhamma in the Kasganj district. According to Hirdesh Kumar Katheira, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), the three victims—identified as Sonu (22), Krishna Kumar (14), and Yogesh (38)—died on impact.

Emergency Response and Medical Support

Following the collision, local residents and emergency services acted swiftly to rescue those trapped in the wreckage.

  • Immediate Care: All 15 injured passengers were rushed to the Budaun Government Medical College.

  • Critical Cases: Due to the severity of their injuries, five individuals in critical condition have been referred to specialized medical centers in Bareilly and Saifai for advanced treatment.

  • Clearance Operations: Both buses sustained extensive damage, causing significant traffic congestion on the highway. Police utilized cranes to clear the debris and restore the flow of vehicles by late morning.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound grief over the loss of life and extended his condolences to the grieving families. He has issued immediate directives to the district administration:

  • Relief Work: Expedite all administrative and relief procedures for the affected families.

  • Investigation: A formal investigation is currently underway to determine whether the collision was caused by low visibility, mechanical failure, or driver negligence.
