Chandigarh: The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Chandigarh Bench has suspended court proceedings until further notice after severe water seepage from the building’s roof caused significant damage to its premises.

In an official notice issued on Tuesday, the tribunal stated that seepage had affected the courtrooms as well as chambers of the presiding members, making it unsafe to conduct hearings. As a result, both courts of the Chandigarh Bench will remain closed temporarily.

The notice, signed by the tribunal’s designated registrar, PK Tiwari, clarified that proceedings will only resume once the premises are restored to a functional condition. Updates on the reopening will be communicated in due course.

The order has also been circulated to the NCLT Bar Association, Chandigarh Bench, the Registrar of NCLT in New Delhi, and displayed on notice boards for advocates and litigants.

The suspension is expected to impact hearings of several ongoing insolvency and corporate law matters listed before the Chandigarh Bench, which caters to cases from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

For now, litigants and lawyers will have to await further instructions from the tribunal regarding rescheduling of hearings and restoration of normal functioning.
