Alwar, Rajasthan: In a gruesome incident reminiscent of the infamous Meerut murder case, the body of a 35-year-old man was discovered stuffed inside a blue plastic drum on the rooftop of his rented house in Kishangarh Bas town of Khairthal-Tijara district on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Hansraj alias Suraj, originally from Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Adarsh Colony for the past six weeks while working at a local brick kiln. His body was found covered with salt, allegedly to accelerate decomposition.

According to police, the victim’s wife, their three children, and the landlord’s son have been missing since Saturday. The discovery was made after the landlord’s wife noticed a foul smell from the rooftop.

Police teams led by Khairthal-Tijara SP and local officials reached the spot for investigation. The body was shifted to the government hospital mortuary in Kishangarh Bas, and the victim’s family in Uttar Pradesh has been informed.

Investigators confirmed that Hansraj’s throat had been slit with a sharp weapon, pointing towards a premeditated murder. Authorities are now searching for the missing family members and the landlord’s son, who was reportedly close to the victim.

Police said they are working on multiple leads to establish the motive behind the killing.
