Hisar: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, was presented before a Hisar court on Sunday through video conferencing. The court extended her judicial custody by another 14 days.
Her counsel, advocate Kumar Mukesh, confirmed the development and said that Jyoti is expected to appear physically before the court on August 25, when she will be given a copy of the charge sheet.
Earlier on August 14, Hisar Police had filed a detailed 2,500-page charge sheet in the case, alleging that the accused was actively involved in espionage activities. Investigators have reportedly cited digital evidence to substantiate their claims.
According to police sources, Jyoti allegedly maintained constant communication with operatives of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and is accused of sharing sensitive information with them. Officials claim that she filmed strategic locations, including dams in Jammu and Kashmir, considered critical to national security, and passed them on to Pakistani handlers.
It has also been alleged that ISI operatives were able to extract the location details of one such under-construction dam in Kashmir through the videos shot by Jyoti. Police maintain that her frequent trips to the Union Territory were undertaken at the instructions of Pakistani intelligence agents.
However, as the defense points out, none of these claims can be formally verified until the charge sheet is officially shared. Advocate Mukesh reiterated, “The charge sheet has been filed, but the defense has not yet received a copy. Jyoti will get it during her next court appearance.”
The case continues to draw attention due to its serious implications for national security, with both the prosecution and defense preparing for a heated legal battle ahead.
