Nabha: Dera Beas chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon on Monday met Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia at the newly built Nabha jail, a meeting that has triggered political discussion in Punjab.

Speaking after the meeting, Gurinder Singh Dhillon made a strong statement in support of Majithia. He said the cases registered against the Akali leader were false and based on unfounded allegations. Dhillon asserted that all drug-related cases against Majithia were fabricated and had no truth in them.

He described Bikram Singh Majithia as a personal friend and said he would continue to meet him in the future. Drawing a distinction between personal relationships and governance, Dhillon remarked that relationships are separate, while the government functions in its own domain.

Meanwhile, a large number of people gathered outside Nabha jail during the visit. Heavy police deployment was also seen in and around the jail premises to maintain law and order.
