New Delhi: IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers on Wednesday said the airline is aggressively expanding its global footprint and aims to deploy nearly 40 per cent of its total capacity on international routes by 2030, alongside operating more than 4,000 daily flights, including domestic services.
Speaking at a media briefing on the sidelines of the aviation summit Wings India 2026, Elbers said the country’s largest airline has set ambitious growth targets for the coming years. IndiGo currently operates a fleet of around 440 aircraft and runs over 2,200 flights every day.
The airline plans to carry nearly 200 million passengers annually and operate across more than 4,000 routes by the end of the decade. In 2025, IndiGo flew about 124 million passengers, underscoring its rapid post-pandemic recovery and sustained demand growth.
“We are a fit-for-purpose airline,” Elbers said, outlining IndiGo’s strategy of scale, efficiency and network expansion to strengthen its leadership position in the aviation market.
The briefing marked Elbers’ first in-person interaction with the Indian media since the airline faced significant operational disruptions in December last year.
IndiGo has placed orders for nearly 900 aircraft as part of its long-term expansion plans, including 39 A321 XLR planes that will enable the airline to operate longer international routes with greater efficiency.
