Jaipur: Food safety authorities in Jaipur seized and destroyed around 700 kilograms of adulterated paneer on Saturday as part of a special crackdown against food adulteration, officials said.
The action was carried out under the ongoing “Shuddh Aahar, Milawat Par Vaar” campaign, Food Safety Commissioner T Shubhamangala said. A team of food safety officers inspected the godown of Barsana Paneer Bhandar located in the Bhatta Basti area of Shastri Nagar, where the adulterated stock was detected.
Officials said the entire quantity of paneer was destroyed on the spot to prevent it from entering the consumer market. A sample was also collected in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and sent for laboratory testing.
According to the commissioner, the shop owner, identified as Mustaq, informed the authorities that the paneer had been sourced from Alwar and was being supplied to retail sellers across Jaipur at prices ranging between Rs 200 and Rs 220 per kilogram. He also allegedly admitted that the paneer was adulterated.
Food safety officials said further legal action will be initiated based on the laboratory report.
