Lahaul-Spiti: Amid continuous snowfall and adverse weather conditions, the Lahaul and Spiti Police on Thursday ordered the temporary closure of all roads in the district for all categories of vehicular movement to ensure public safety.

In a road closure advisory, the police urged residents and travellers to stay at their current locations, avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert until further notice. Authorities have strictly prohibited movement on closed roads, warning that any violation could put lives at risk due to poor visibility, slippery surfaces and the possibility of avalanches.

Police officials said the situation is being closely monitored and necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of both locals and stranded travellers. Road conditions will be reviewed once the weather improves, following which a decision on reopening routes will be taken.

The administration has advised people to follow official updates and cooperate with authorities as snowfall continues across the high-altitude district.
