Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to receive a significant boost in Punjab on Friday, with five well-known political figures likely to formally join the party later today.
Sources indicate that the leaders, who include a former Member of Parliament, a former MLA and two individuals who previously served as Officers on Special Duty to senior Punjab leaders, will enter the BJP fold at an event attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
While official names are yet to be announced, party insiders say the inductions are aimed at strengthening the BJP’s organisational base in Punjab ahead of upcoming political challenges. The presence of the Haryana Chief Minister is being seen as a signal of the party’s focus on expanding its influence in the region.
The move is expected to draw attention within Punjab’s political circles, as several of those joining have held influential positions and are familiar faces in state politics. Their entry into the BJP could reshape local equations and add momentum to the party’s outreach efforts in the border state.
Party officials are expected to make a formal announcement later in the day, following which the new entrants are likely to address supporters and outline their reasons for joining the BJP.
